Autistic Double Bill: Wave Function Collapse and STIMM
Being autistic often comes with challenges in finding both identity and community. In this double bill two autistic dancers/choreographers cross paths on their ways to self discovery/knowledge/acceptance/love and common joy.

Wave Function Collapse

Wave function collapse occurs when a wave function reduces to a single eigenstate due to interaction with the external world. This interaction is called an observation. Behind a carefully crafted web a performer hides in plain sight. They hope to catch the audience's attention in the web before they are ever fully perceived.
With a recent autism diagnosis the author has been attempting to untangle their own identity. How tightly are they bound by other people's perceptions? Will the wave always collapse beneath the weight of observation, or is there hope of resurrection?

The dancer/dancewriter/crafty web-maker has carved a slice of time and space to tell their story through movement, entanglement, lies and misunderstandings.

stimm

I’m autistic. It's not weird if you didn't know, but I still am. In the spring of 2024 I got together with a group of fellow autistic, non-men and made this performance. It was my final work towards a BA-degree in dance from the Iceland University of the Arts. The performance was born out of a need for role models and resources around autism in the performing arts. It was an attempt to be that role model myself and to both create new resources and give space to the ones we already carry in our bodies. But the show actually isn’t really about autism. It's about stimming. If you don't know what stimming is you can go find out for yourself. We are happy to invite you to this performance. But you might just have to put in a little effort.
